Jude McAtamney Reportedly Released by Giants After Missing 2 XPs in Loss to Broncos

Zach BacharOct 21, 2025

The New York Giants released kicker Jude McAtamney on Tuesday, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.

McAtamney missed two extra points during the Giants' 33-32 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, a game in which they blew an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter.

The 25-year-old appeared in each of the past four games for New York after veteran kicker Graham Gano was placed on injured reserve due to a groin injury.

After Gano suffered the injury while warming up on Sept. 21, the Giants also brought in kicker Younghoe Koo on their practice squad. McAtamney ultimately earned the nod at replacement kicker over Koo, who has 93 games of NFL experience.

McAtamney connected on both of his field-goal attempts during his four appearances with the Giants this year, although his longest was only 31 yards. He hit nine of his 12 extra point attempts, while three of his misses occurred over the team's past two games.

His final miss was particularly costly, as New York had scored a go-ahead touchdown against Denver with 37 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. After the extra point missed, the Giants' two-point lead vanished after the Broncos drove down the field for a game-winning field goal from 39 yards out.

"Gotta make the kicks," McAtamney said after the loss, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "Not gonna shy away from that. I'll take full responsibility."

The Giants could turn to Koo moving forward, but Gano is also eligible to be activated off injured reserve after missing four games.

New York's starting kicker situation will become clearer as a Week 8 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles draws closer.
