Mike McDaniel Calls Out Dolphins' 'Embarrassing Effort' in Blowout Loss to Browns
Mike McDaniel didn't mince words while discussing the Miami Dolphins' 31-6 loss against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
"That was an embarrassing effort..." the head coach told reporters on Monday. "I don't really have an opinion on the two teams in the game because we didn't really participate in the game."
Very little went right for the Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa threw three interceptions—he now has 10 picks through seven games—and was eventually benched in favor of Quinn Ewers. The Dolphins turned the ball over four times in total and struggled to sustain drives when they held onto it, finishing 1-for-13 on third downs. The defense gave up 104 yards on the ground and 31 points against a Cleveland team that hadn't score more than 17 points in any of its first six games. And Miami was penalized 11 times, costing them 103 yards.

"We did everything we could to lose the game," McDaniel noted. "You saw a lot of frustration from the season seep into our play. I felt like emotional overreactions in the first half were detrimental to us. Four drives were sustained by penalties defensively."
The Dolphins are now 1-6 on the season and the futures of both McDaniel and Tagovailoa are very much in question, though reporting in the aftermath of Sunday's loss has suggested that McDaniel's job remains safe.
For now, at least.
