Raiders' Brock Bowers Reportedly Unlikely to Play vs. Chiefs Due to Knee Injury
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers isn't expected to play on Sunday at the Kansas City Chiefs due to an ongoing knee injury, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, who added that the ex-Georgia star has a "good chance" to return in two weeks after the team's bye.
Bowers suffered a PCL injury and bone bruise on his left knee in the team's 20-13 season-opening win over the New England Patriots on Sept. 7 and played through the ailments for a month, catching 19 passes for 225 yards in four games overall.
Bowers was a First Team All-Pro in his rookie year in 2024, amassing 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns.
This has been a rough year for the Raiders' offense overall, with the team averaging just 17.2 points per game (30th in the NFL). That's despite the Raiders making big changes, including at quarterback (Geno Smith), running back (Ashton Jeanty), head coach (Pete Carroll) and play-caller (offensive coordinator Chip Kelly).
Bowers was the engine of the team's offense last year. Unfortunately, it's clear this knee injury has hindered his start, and now he'll miss three straight games.
Thankfully, Bowers could be back in two weeks, when the Raiders host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 2.
In the meantime, Michael Mayer will remain TE1. The former Notre Dame star missed Weeks 4 and 5 due to the concussion protocol, but he returned last Sunday in a 20-10 win over the Tennessee Titans and caught five passes for 50 yards and a touchdown on seven targets.
