Jets' Garrett Wilson Reportedly to Miss Multiple Games, Avoided 'Serious Knee Injury'
New York Jets star wide receiver Garrett Wilson suffered a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos and could miss "a couple of weeks," according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Schefter reported that the receiver was diagnosed with a hyperextend knee.
ESPN's Rich Cimini previously reported Wilson "appears to have avoided a serious knee injury" after undergoing an MRI on Monday.
Wilson, who has recorded 1,000 or more yards in each of his first four seasons, is off to a strong start despite the Jets' struggles, recording 395 yards and four touchdowns through the first six games of the season.
He had just three receptions for 13 yards before exiting Sunday's 13-11 loss.
Wilson was coy when discussing his injury after the game.
"I'm just trying to wait for the stuff to come back," Wilson told reporters. "It's really messing with my mental and I don't want to think about it."
Wilson has once again been one of the best wide receivers in the AFC, but he's been by far and away the best player on the Jets' offense. He's the only member of the wide receiver room with more than 10 catches and the only player with more than 100 yards.
It's good news that Wilson seemed to have avoided a serious injury, but any missed time will be detrimental to the Jets, who are still searching for their first win after starting the year 0-6.
Luckily for New York, its upcoming stretch isn't too daunting. The Jets will face the Carolina Panthers and Cincinnati Bengals over the next two weeks before a bye week.
