Cowboys Insiders Project CeeDee Lamb Could Return from Ankle Injury vs. Commanders

Scott PolacekOct 9, 2025

The Dallas Cowboys might only have to play one more game without star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

While Lamb did not officially participate in Thursday's practice ahead of Dallas' Week 6 matchup with the Carolina Panthers, he was seen doing individual work by multiple insiders who suggested the Week 7 game against the Washington Commanders might be when he returns from the high ankle sprain:

Lamb suffered the injury early in the Cowboys' Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears, and the offense never recovered on the way to just 14 points.

However, the offense was much better the last two games during a 40-40 tie to the Green Bay Packers and 37-22 win over the New York Jets. George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy and Jake Ferguson have kept the aerial attack afloat as targets for Dak Prescott during Lamb's absence.

However, the offense is far more dangerous with the No. 1 option on the field.

After all, the Oklahoma product is a four-time Pro Bowler with four straight seasons of more than 1,100 receiving yards. He is on the short list of the best wide receivers in the league and creates openings for everyone else because of the defensive attention he draws when he is on the field.

Dallas has enough talent to defeat the Panthers without him given the way Pickens and Flournoy have played of late, but it is going to need Lamb back and healthy if it is going to be a factor in the NFC East and playoff race.

That makes a potential return against the Commanders fitting, as Washington is one of the teams the Cowboys are going to have to compete with inside the division.
