The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees 5-1 in Game 4 of the ALDS on Wednesday to advance to the American League Championship Series, prompting fans to call for Aaron Boone's firing following New York's elimination.

Instead, New York could not even advance beyond the ALDS.
The No. 1-seeded Blue Jays are the first team to advance out of the divisional round and will face the winner of the series between the No. 2 Seattle Mariners and No. 6 Detroit Tigers in the ALCS, which is currently tied 2-2.
In New York, since Boone's arrival in 2018, the Yankees have reached the postseason in seven of his eight seasons, recording two ALCS losses, three ALDS losses, one AL Wild Card loss, one World Series loss and one year missing the playoffs.
They last won the World Series in 2009, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2.
With Aaron Judge joining the team in 2016, many have credited the Yankees' postseason success to the players, arguing that Boone's managerial decisions have often done more harm than good.
Following New York's ALDS exit, fans took to social media to voice their frustrations with Boone.
Despite fans questioning Boone's job security, there's no denying the talent of the Blue Jays as they advance to the ALCS.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had another strong performance, going 1-of-4 at the plate with one RBI while holding a .529 batting average.
Nathan Lukes went 2-of-5 with a home run and two RBI, while George Springer and Myles Straw each added an RBI. Ernie Clement finished 2-of-3 at the plate with two runs scored and carrying a .643 batting average.
The low-scoring game saw Guerrero Jr. continue his postseason dominance, driving in a run with a first-inning single to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.
The Yankees responded in the bottom of the third when Ryan McMahon hit a solo home run to even the score.
Toronto regained control in the fifth with a sacrifice fly from Springer that brought home Clement. Lukes added a two-RBI single in the seventh, scoring Clement and Andres Giménez to extend the Blue Jays' lead to 4-1.
Straw added a RBI in the eighth inning to provide insurance, extending the Blue Jays' lead to 5-1.
Despite the Yankees' best efforts, including a RBI from Judge in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and two strikes, they fell 5-2 in elimination.
The Blue Jays will await the winner of the Tigers-Mariner ALDS Game 5, scheduled for Friday, with the ALCS set to begin Sunday.
