Patrick Mahomes Says 'It Sucks' to Lose to Jaguars, Chiefs 'Let a Game Slip Away'
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was left to lament another close loss following his team's 31-28 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.
"Obviously, it sucks," he told reporters. "You let a game slip away. It still sucks whenever you get a lead and you're not able to hold it."
The Chiefs led by four points inside the final 30 seconds before Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence stumbled his way into the end zone.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
This has become an all too familiar feeling for Kansas City. Through five weeks, it's sitting on a 2-3 record and those three losses came by 12 combined points.
The Chiefs couldn't recover from a sluggish start in Week 1, when they fell 27-21 to the Los Angeles Chargers. It was a similar story a week later. Mahomes' 49-yard touchdown pass to Tyquan Thornton brought Kansas City to within a field goal, 20-17, of the Philadelphia Eagles with three minutes remaining before the Eagles ran down the clock.
Monday's game might've been the most frustrating of the bunch because the three-time reigning AFC champions were up late and just needed to get one more stop.
Instead, Lawrence marched the Jaguars down 60 yards in just 1:22. The Jags star finished 18-of-25 for 221 yards, one touchdown and an interception, and he ran for 54 yards and two scores.
"I thought multiple times we had him," Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones said. "We've just got to finish. Us, as a defensive line, we've got to be more disciplined on our rush lanes. We let Trevor get out multiple times, especially in the red zone. That's on the D-line. We've got to be cognizant on our gaps. I take that personal, the containment of the quarterback."
NBC News' Rohan Nadkarni explained how the Chiefs' start is a major contrast from the last few years.
Andy Reid's squad reeled off 17 straight wins in one-score games between 2023 and 2024, posting an 11-0 mark in those situations last year alone. Mahomes led all NFL QBs in fourth-quarter comebacks (five) and game-winning drives (seven).
Now, the two-time MVP's presence provides no guarantees that Kansas City will come out on top in the end, and that could have serious implications toward the conference title race.
