Ravens' Lamar Jackson Reportedly Expected to Be Out vs. Rams, Latest on Injury Return
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson reportedly is trending toward missing a second consecutive game in Week 6 due to a hamstring injury.
During an appearance Thursday on SportsCenter, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said the following about Jackson's chances of playing against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday:
"It's not tracking to be this week, right now, unless he somehow makes some surprising turnaround. When the Ravens practiced yesterday, he was not out there due to that hamstring injury that sidelined him last week. Let's keep in mind the Ravens have a bye after this week, so if Jackson doesn't play this week he would get two weeks of rest to rest that ailing hamstring. And it certainly seems like that seems to be the way it is tracking right now."
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer previously reported this past Sunday that Jackson had an "outside shot" to return in Week 6 against the Rams, but that now seems unlikely.
Jackson was ruled out of the Ravens' Week 5 matchup with the Houston Texans due to a hamstring strain, and Baltimore turned in its worst performance of the season, falling 44-10 to drop to 1-4 on the year.
The quarterback suffered the injury in the third quarter of a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Backup Cooper Rush finished out the game in his place, and he got the start in Baltimore's blowout loss to Houston as well.
The injury news was a major blow for the Ravens, who started the season 1-3 with Jackson in the lineup despite the two-time MVP recording an NFL-high 10 passing touchdowns and a 130.5 passer rating.
The upcoming NFL schedule could benefit a club struggling to deal with mounting injuries to players including Jackson, Ronnie Stanley, Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey. Nnamdi Madubuike is already out for the rest of the season with a neck injury.
The Ravens have a Week 7 bye, giving the team two weeks off between Sunday's game against the Rams and Oct. 26 game against the Chicago Bears.
Baltimore will hope that extra time can give Jackson and his teammates enough time to heal as the club looks to recover from a disappointing start to the 2025 season.
The Ravens will likely turn once more to Rush on Sunday if Jackson is indeed unable to play. Star running back Derrick Henry could also see a heavier workload if Baltimore decides to focus on the run game while Jackson is sidelined.
