Jon Scheyer, Duke Reportedly Agree to 6-Year Contract Extension Through 2030-31
Duke men's basketball coach Jon Scheyer has signed a six-year contract extension that is set to keep him in Durham through the 2030-31 season, ESPN's Jeff Borzello and Pete Thamel reported Thursday.
Scheyer was previously signed through the 2028-29 season after agreeing to a separate six-year extension in 2023.
After taking over for College Basketball Hall of Famer Mike Krzyzewski in 2022, Scheyer has led Duke to an 89-22 record over three seasons.

That span has included two ACC Tournament championships, three NCAA Tournament berths and a trip to the Final Four last spring.
Scheyer has also helped recruit some of the top recruiting classes in the NCAA through that tenure, including convincing 2025 top NBA draft pick Cooper Flagg to play his lone collegiate campaign in Durham.
247Sports ranks all four of the recruiting classes that have committed to Duke under Scheyer's tenure among the top two in the NCAA.
That includes a top-ranked 2025 class headlined by 5-star forward Cameron Boozer and his brother, 4-star guard Cayden Boozer.
After last season's March Madness run ended with a loss to Houston, all five of the 2024-25 team's starters— Flagg, Kon Knueppel, Khaman Maluach, Sion James and Tyrese Proctor— were selected in the 2025 draft.
Despite losing nine players to the NBA draft in three seasons, Scheyer's recruitment efforts mean the Blue Devils could be challenging for the ACC title as soon as next spring.
5-star recruits Boozer and Nikolas Khamenia may get the chance to man the frontcourt, while returning guards like Caleb Foster and Isaiah Evans could be called on to step into bigger roles, as Scheyer prepares to build a new starting roster next season.
Duke will now hope the lessons learned from last year's national semifinal collapse against Houston can help the Blue Devils make it even farther as Scheyer enters his fourth year as the program's head coach.
Scheyer played four seasons for Duke from 2007 to 2010 and helped the program win a national championship during his senior season. He ranks 10th today on the Blue Devils' all-time scoring leaderboard with 2,077 caeer points.
He joined Krzyzewski's staff in 2013 and served as special assistant, assistant coach and associate head coach prior to his promotion in 2022.
