The Sharks are among several NHL teams using a throwback look to celebrate an anniversary for the franchise during the 2025-26 season. The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings have special 100th anniversary jerseys.
On Thursday, the Minnesota Wild revealed their special uniforms that will be used for select games in honor of their 25th anniversary season.
San Jose is preparing to start its 35th season in the NHL. The heritage throwback look specifically honors the era from 1998 to 2007, which kickstarted one of the best extended runs for the franchise.
During that eight-season period, the Sharks made the playoffs seven times, won two division titles and the 2003-04 team advanced to the Western Conference finals for the first time in club history.
Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton and Evgeni Nabokov were among the top stars on those Sharks teams.
The Sharks will wear the throwback jerseys four times this season, starting with their Oct. 30 game against the New Jersey Devils.
This comes at a time of great hope and optimism for the future in San Jose. Michael Misa, the No. 2 pick in the 2025 draft, is joining last year's No. 1 overall pick Macklin Celebrini to help get the organization back to contention in the Western Conference.
The Sharks will open the regular season against the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 9.
