Raiders' Pete Carroll Denies Rumor That Tom Brady, Chip Kelly Meet 3 Times per Week
Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll attempted to defuse a potentially messy situation after Tom Brady was shown in the team's coaching booth during Monday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Carroll denied a report that Brady and Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly meet multiple times per week to discuss the team's game plan.
"We have conversations," Carroll said. "I talk to Tom, Chip talks to Tom regularly. We have a tremendous asset. And we all get along and respect each other. We just talk about life and football. He has great insight, so we're lucky to have him as an owner."

The NFL clarified Tuesday that Brady was not in violation of league rules when he sat in the coaches' booth.
"There are no policies that prohibit an owner from sitting in the coaches' booth or wearing a headset during a game," the league said in a statement. "Brady was sitting in the booth in his capacity as a limited partner.
"All personnel sitting in the booth must abide by policies that prohibit the use of electronic devices other than league-issued equipment such as a Microsoft Surface Tablet for the Sideline Viewing System."
ESPN's Peter Schrager, who served as the sideline reporter for the Chargers-Raiders game, said on the broadcast that he was told by Kelly that he meets with Brady multiple times per week throughout the season.
Brady, in his capacity as a minority owner with the Raiders, is allowed to have conversations with members of the coaching staff.
However, Brady also works as a television analyst for Fox Sports. The NFL has put rules in place specifically for him to avoid any potential conflicts or assist the Raiders with their game planning.
The league is allowing Brady to take part in production meetings remotely with coaches and teams this season, something he wasn't permitted to do in 2024, but he's not permitted to attend practices in person.
"Tom continues to be prohibited from going to a team facility for practices or production meetings," the league said on Tuesday. "He may attend production meetings remotely but may not attend in person at the team facility or hotel. He may also conduct an interview off site with a player like he did last year a couple times, including for the Super Bowl. Of course, as with any production meeting with broadcast teams, it's up to the club, coach or players to determine what they say in those sessions."
The Raiders lost to the Chargers 20-9 on Monday night in a game that saw Geno Smith get picked off three times. They managed just 218 yards of total offense, their fewest in a game since Week 9 last season.
