Giannis Highlights Impress Fans as Greece Wins Bronze Medal in 2025 EuroBasket Bracket
The bronze medal at EuroBasket 2025 belongs to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece.
Greece defeated Lauri Markkanen and Finland 92-89 in Sunday's thrilling third-place game behind another impressive performance from the Milwaukee Bucks star. While he was relatively quiet in the semifinal loss to Türkiye, Antetokounmpo once again led his country in a tournament where he has proven largely unstoppable.
Finland could have won it at the end with a put-back effort from Mikael Jantunen on a missed free throw that could have forced overtime, but he did not convert:

Antetokounmpo grabbed the board and finished with 30 points, 17 rebounds and six assists on 9-of-11 shooting from the field, while Tyler Dorsey (20 points and 5-of-9 from three-point range) provided timely support.
Markkanen led the way for Finland with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, but it was Antetokounmpo's effort and overall highlights that stood out:
Sunday was a much different story for Antetokounmpo and Greece than Friday's blowout semifinal loss to Türkiye. Türkiye jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back in large part because of the ability of its defense to swarm Antetokounmpo whenever he got into the lane.
As a result, he finished with just 12 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field.
The opportunity to put that performance in the rearview mirror made a strong start imperative for Greece in Sunday's game, and it wasted little time setting the tone on the way to a 14-point halftime advantage.
Antetokounmpo in particular consistently got to the free-throw line as he used his physicality to overwhelm Finland. That also forced defenders to collapse on him, which opened up outside looks for Dorsey and Vasileios Toliopoulos.
While Markkanen and Finland built momentum with multiple runs in the second half, Greece could turn to Antetokounmpo whenever it needed a clutch play.
That included dominating the boards, continuing to put Dorsey in ideal position to score and attacking even the slightest opening in the lane. Never was his clutch play more important than when he answered a 7-0 Finland run to cut the deficit to four in the final minute with an and-1.
He also grabbed a key rebound and hit two free throws with four seconds remaining to help clinch the win and capture the bronze medal for his country.
