Week 1 NFL Picks and Early Odds to Exploit for Best Over/Under Box Score Bets

Kristopher KnoxSep 3, 2025

A new NFL season is upon us, and fans will have no shortage of wagering options in Week 1—a slate that will feature games on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday.

Many fans may prefer to stick to traditional bets, like individual game lines and parlays. However, box-score betting can provide some fun alternatives, especially for those looking to add more excitement to a specific contest.

Instead of picking the winner of, say, Thursday's opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, fans can instead wager on the performances of specific players and other box-score-related statistics.

Here, you'll find our picks for the top box-score over/unders to consider in Week 1.

Dak Prescott over 248.5 Passing Yards

1 of 4
Cowboys Giants Football

An NFC East showdown between the Eagles and Cowboys is an entertaining enough way to kick off the 2025 season. However, fans may still want to spice things up a bit, and if they do, this passing prop is enticing.

Dak Prescott is -113 (bet $113 to win $100) to pass for more than 228.5 yards against the Eagles. That's a fairly high number against a defense that ranked first in passing yards allowed last season. However, it's a number Prescott may have to hit to keep this game competitive.

Dallas' defense wasn't good last year, and it won't be any better with Micah Parsons gone. And with a questionable committee backfield, the Cowboys will have to take to the air if they're going to chase points on the scoreboard.

It's worth noting that the Eagles saw quite a bit of defensive turnover this offseason and still have questions in their secondary. It's also worth noting that, while Prescott wasn't healthy for either of last year's games against the Eagles, he passed for 645 yards against them in 2023.

Terry McLaurin Under 60.5 Receiving Yards

Commanders McLarin Football

The other NFC East battle in Week 1 should also bring plenty of excitement. Reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders will host the new-look, Russell Wilson-led New York Giants.

This game has the potential to be a back-and-forth affair. However, fans should temper expectations for Commanders star receiver Terry McLaurin, who is -110 to produce fewer than 60.5 receiving yards.

This would normally be a disappointing total for the 29-year-old, who has averaged 65.8 yards per game during his career. However, McLaurin only recently ended his hold-in after agreeing to a contract extension on August 26. McLaurin and his chemistry with Daniels probably aren't in midseason form.

We may also see the Commanders use a run-heavy approach to help mitigate a potent New York pass rush led by Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and Abdul Carter. Therefore, McLaurin could be in store for a quiet afternoon.

James Conner over 68.5 Rushing Yards

3 of 4
Cardinals Panthers Football

Sunday's game between the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints may not excite casual fans. However, fantasy enthusiasts are likely to follow along because of the involvement of players like Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison Jr., Alvin Kamara and James Conner.

Conner, Arizona's starting running back, is -112 to rush for 68.5 yards against New Orleans. He has a good chance to do so, even if second-year back Trey Benson is poised to see a bigger role.

The Saints defense was a disaster last season, ranking 31st in rushing yards and yards per carry allowed. Though New Orleans added a few new players and a new coaching staff, it won't suddenly field a shut-down defense.

The Saints might also struggle to keep pace on the scoreboard with second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler set to start. If so, Conner and Benson could both see a lot of work as the Cardinals look to close out the game on the ground.

Tony Pollard Under 63.5 Rushing Yards

4 of 4
Jaguars Titans Football

Fans may tune into Sunday's game between the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans to watch the debut of first overall pick and new Titans quarterback Cam Ward. They may stay to watch what could be a one-sided battle between a rookie quarterback and a defense that ranked second in net yards per pass attempt allowed last season.

Tennessee will undoubtedly try to support Ward with a strong ground game, but Denver is built to clamp down on that too. The Broncos ranked third in rushing yards allowed and second in yards per carry allowed last season.

It's hard to envision the Titans generating many explosive plays, which is why the under for this Tony Pollard rushing prop is attractive. He's -111 to rush for fewer than 64 yards against Denver.

That's a yardage total that the 28-year-old failed to reach in nine of his 16 appearances last season.
