Matt Hasselbeck Says 'No Doubt' NFL Teams Make Depth Chart Decisions from Social Media
Former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck told The Athletic's Zak Keefer he believes social media plays a role in how teams make depth chart decisions.
"It used to be newspapers, right?" Hasselbeck told Keefer. "An owner or coach would make a decision based on something they read in the newspaper.
"Now people are making depth chart decisions based on their social media feed. I have no doubt that actually happens."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There have been several depth chart battles across the NFL closely scrutinized on social media this offseason.
Keefer's report came hours before rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who has been the focus of increasing hype while appearing in three games this preseason, was promoted to serve as Russell Wilson's backup over veteran Jameis Winston.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, meanwhile, has been the subject of just as much fan focus as he battled Dillon Gabriel for the backup role behind Joe Flacco before ending up as QB3.
Even former NFL quarterback Derek Carr weighed in on social media regarding head coach Kevin Stefanski's use of Sanders during the preseason.
Teams may be hoping to block out all the noise surrounding these kinds of high-profile depth chart decisions while preparing for the 2025 season, which starts this Thursday with an 8:20 p.m. ET game between the Dallas Cowboys and the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles.
