Jakobi Meyers' Top Potential NFL Landing Spots After Raiders Trade Request

Zach BacharAug 25, 2025

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers could be in line for a change of scenery ahead of the 2025 season.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Meyers requested to be traded on Monday after contract negotiations with the team stalled.

He's currently set to carry a base salary of $10.5 million for his 2025 campaign before he's scheduled to hit free agency in 2026.

The Raiders have "no plans" to move Meyers despite the request, per Rapoport and Pelissero.

Still, Las Vegas' front office might change its view on parting ways with the receiver if an opposing team offers a particularly enticing trade package.

The 28-year-old wrapped up a 2024 season in which he hauled in a career-high 87 receptions for 1,027 yards, finding the end zone four times.

Here are three possible landing spots for Meyers on the trade market.

New England Patriots

Meyers could return to the team that he opened his career with.

The wideout spent his first four NFL seasons with the New England Patriots from 2019-22, recording 235 catches for 2,758 yards and eight scores over that span.

Meyers eventually left to join the Raiders as a free agent in March 2023, but a reunion with New England is a possibility.

Josh McDaniels is back with the Patriots as their offensive coordinator for the 2025 season, and he has lots of familiarity with the receiver. McDaniels served as Meyers' offensive coordinator in New England from 2019-21 and his head coach in Las Vegas at the start of the 2023 season.

The Patriots could also use a consistent weapon for quarterback Drake Maye as he prepares for his second year in the NFL.

New England signed Stefon Diggs in free agency, but his impact is uncertain following his recovery from a torn ACL that he suffered last season.

The Patriots also added Mack Hollins, but he's never eclipsed 700 receiving yards in any of his seven years in the NFL.

If Las Vegas seriously pursues trades for Meyers, New England could be a suitor.

New York Giants

With the New York Giants looking to improve after posting a combined record of 9-25 over the past two seasons, Meyers may be a possible trade target.

Malik Nabers is firmly entrenched as New York's No. 1 receiver following an impressive rookie season in which he racked up 1,204 yards in 15 games, but the team's depth behind him isn't as secure.

Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton averaged just 41.1 and 35.8 receiving yards per game last season, respectively.

Meyers' consistency could make him an attractive option on the trade market for New York, as he's recorded at least 800 yards in each of the past four seasons.

His sure hands also make him a potential fit with Russell Wilson, as he's dropped just 16 passes across 91 career games (via Pro Football Reference).

Despite Nabers' presence, the Giants should still be interested in Meyers.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers' offense will look vastly different in 2025, but that doesn't mean the team won't continue pursuing a possible addition at receiver.

The Steelers have already reportedly hosted Gabe Davis on multiple visits in free agency, but didn't reach a contract agreement with the wideout.

Pittsburgh handed DK Metcalf a hefty four-year, $132 million contract after acquiring him in a March trade with the Seattle Seahawks.

Metcalf should serve as Aaron Rodgers' top target next season, but the rest of the team's receiving room lacks a surefire weapon for the veteran quarterback to rely on.

Calvin Austin III and Robert Woods only combined to record 751 yards last season, while Rodgers may be hesitant to trust second-year receiver Roman Wilson within the Steelers' passing attack right away.

Meyers could also benefit from playing with Rodgers, even if the signal-caller's MVP days may be behind him. He excelled in Las Vegas despite a lack of consistency under center, as the Raiders started five different quarterbacks over the past two seasons.
