New MLB Power Rankings 🔢
Raleigh continues to lead the majors with 49 homers during his 2025 campaign, four more than any other player.
The previous record for the most home runs by a catcher in a single year was held by Salvador Pérez, as the Kansas City Royals' nine-time All-Star recorded 48 homers during the 2021 season.
Raleigh initially trailed Pérez in the record books heading into Sunday's action, but tied the milestone with a two-run blast in the first inning that traveled 448 feet.
He went on to break the record in the ensuing frame, receiving a standing ovation from the fans at T-Mobile Park.
His accomplishment was especially impressive considering the speed at which he achieved it, as Seattle still has 31 contests remaining in the regular season following its clash with the Athletics.
Sunday also marked Raleigh's ninth game with multiple home runs this year. He surpassed Hall of Fame outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. for the most such games within a single season in Mariners history, per the team.
While Raleigh has showcased his power at the plate in past seasons, he's in the midst of a breakout year with Seattle.
He's racked up 19 doubles, 14 stolen bases, 75 walks and an American League-leading 106 RBI while posting a .246/.352/.592 slash line. Raleigh has also recorded a career-high .944 OPS.
