The 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle and 1909 Sweet Caporal T206 Honus Wagner were long considered the gold standard for sports trading cards, but the Jordan and Bryant card sold for significantly more than each of them.
As Burrows and Stern noted, the card included game-worn Logoman patches from both players. Jordan wore the gold one during the 1996-97 season, which was the NBA's 50th anniversary.
It is the latest sign that the sports trading card market continues to explode in popularity.
It is also the latest development in what has been a head-turning month for Bryant cards:
Having the GOAT alongside Bryant in the latest card surely helped skyrocket the value, and the two Hall of Famers are now in the record book after their illustrious careers.
They combined for 11 championships and remain two of the most iconic figures in sports history. Bryant often emulated Jordan early in his career, and they will forever be linked together as two unstoppable shooting guards who inspired a generation of basketball fans.
Now they will be linked together in sports trading card history as well.
