Garcia, nicknamed "The Password," initially signed with the Red Sox for $350,000 as an international free agent in 2019.
He's steadily navigated through the minor leagues since, spending 33 games with Double-A Portland and 66 games with Triple-A Worcester this year.
Garcia has continued to showcase his power at the plate, recording 20 home runs, 17 doubles, 43 walks and 73 RBI in 99 combined games with both teams while slashing .289/.363/.512.
He's been especially productive at the plate recently, hitting five homers and recording an impressive 1.002 OPS over his past 15 games.
Garcia may not be in line for a full-time starting role in a crowded Red Sox outfield, but he could receive some consistent playing time to begin his MLB tenure after Wilyer Abreu was placed on the injured list with a calf injury (via Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com).
The upcoming series will be an important one for Boston and New York, as both teams are battling in the American League postseason picture. The Red Sox currently sit 1.5 games back from the Yankees with a 68-59 record.
They'll also be looking to snap a three-game losing streak, while New York is in the midst of a five-game win streak.
Garcia might see action during the first game of the series between the two AL East rivals on Thursday, which begins at 7:15 p.m. ET.
