Indiana's Assembly Hall originally opened during the 1971-72 season and has since been the home to three NCAA national championship teams. A gift to Indiana Athletics in December 2013 from alumna Cindy Simon Skjodt led to renovations before the facility was reopened and dedicated to her as Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Oct. 14, 2016.

Following the departure of head coach Mike Woodson, the Hoosiers are entering their first year under Darian DeVries, who was hired to the position in March after serving as head coach at West Virginia for the 2024-25 season. Before that, he was the head coach at Drake from 2018 to 2024, leading the team to three NCAA tournament appearances in six years.

Indiana went 19-13 in 2024-25 and fell short of the NCAA tournament for the second straight season. The team hasn't advanced past the second round of March Madness since making the Sweet 16 in the 2015-16 season under Tom Crean.

This year's Hoosiers squad will look very different, as the program lost each of its top four scorers from last season to graduation or the transfer portal. Redshirt senior Tucker DeVries, who played under his dad at Drake and West Virginia, will be counted on to lead the offense after transferring to Indiana. The two-time MVC Player of the Year will try to help the team return to prominence in its first year with its refurbished court at Assembly Hall.
