Stefon Diggs is 'Ahead of Schedule Injury Wise,' Patriots Exec Says of WR's Rehab

Doric SamAug 18, 2025

New England Patriots star receiver Stefon Diggs is still working his way back from his torn ACL, but he seems to be on the right track.

Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf told reporters on Monday that Diggs is "ahead of schedule injury-wise."

Diggs was limited to eight games during the 2024 season with the Houston Texans after being traded from the Buffalo Bills. He produced 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns while also scoring the first rushing touchdown of his career. Despite his ongoing injury recovery, the Patriots signed him to a three-year, $63.5 million contract this offseason.

The 31-year-old recently expressed confidence in his chances to return to his Pro Bowl form, but he didn't go as far as saying he'll be ready for Week 1 of the 2025 season.

"I feel great. I'm pushing the needle, always. ... We'll see about Week 1, I don't know how I feel about it, we'll see," Diggs told The Athletic's Dianna Russini last week. "Coaches aren't too excited, I'm not too excited, I'm just trying to take it day by day. So we'll see, it looks like we just don't know where it's gonna go."

Diggs has impressed in training camp, showing signs of his usual dominance. He had multiple highlights in a recent joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings.

Diggs will certainly play a major role in helping the Patriots compete for a playoff spot this year, as he will provide second-year quarterback Drake Maye with a go-to option in the passing attack. Once he's healthy, he will surely be motivated to re-establish himself as one of the best receivers in the NFL.
