MLB Players’ Weekend will return starting on Friday, as players around the majors will use personalized bats and cleats to display their interests.
This isn't the first time that Skubal has used the theme for his cleats, as he wore similar ones during his start in the 2024 Little League Classic.
The designs are a reference to the left-hander's nickname, "Skub."
The 2024 American League Cy Young Award winner is in the midst of another impressive season, owning a record of 11-3 in 23 starts entering Thursday's action to go along with a 2.35 ERA.
Skubal has also racked up 187 strikeouts compared to 21 walks in 145.1 innings of work, while his 0.860 WHIP is the best in the majors.
He's far from the only player giving fans an early look at customized gear for the event, with Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper showing off a bat with flames on the barrel.
Meanwhile, Boston Red Sox rookie Marcelo Mayer's bat will feature Lightning McQueen from the movie Cars.
As for the Tigers, they currently remain atop the AL Central standings with a 70-52 record but have struggled as of late. Detroit has won just 12 of its past 30 games.
