MLB GM Says 'Nobody Wants to Give S--t Up' amid Limited Movement at Trade Deadline
It was a relatively quiet MLB trade deadline, and one general manager had a simple answer for why that was the case.
“Nobody wants to give s--t up,” the general manager said, per the New York Post's Jon Heyman.
While most teams opted to hold on to their top prospects and players, there were a few clubs willing to spend big at the deadline.

The San Diego Padres landed Mason Miller, JP Sears, Ramon Laureano, Ryan O'Hearn, Freddy Fermin, Nestor Cortes, and Will Wagner, but it came at the expense of some of their top prospects.
So far, the aggressive approach is paying off as San Diego has been on a surge since the deadline and has now claimed the top spot in the NL West.
The Phillies also made bold moves at the deadline, landing Jhoan Durán and Harrison Bader from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for some of their top prospects.
Like the Padres, the move is working out so far, and the Phillies are in control of the NL East.
While this year's deadline saw teams take a more conservative approach, the Padres and Phillies might inspire more teams to spend big next year.
