4 NFL Players Who Could Request a Trade Next
The 2025 NFL offseason has been rife with trade requests from some of the league's top players.
Big names such as Terry McLaurin, Micah Parsons and Trey Hendrickson have all been embroiled in contract disputes, asking to be dealt after their respective organizations failed to put suitable extension offers on the table.
And they likely won't be the last stars to request a move.
While there is a chance more contractual disputes pop up before the 2025 NFL campaign kicks off, there's also a real possibility players stuck in positional logjams or unhappy with their post-training camp roles will join the list of players hoping to be traded.
With that in mind, here’s a look at four NFL players who could request a trade next.
WR Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers

With first-rounder Matthew Golden and third-rounder Savion Williams joining a Green Bay Packers receiving corps that has seven competent pass-catchers vying for a limited number of roster spots, something clearly has to give.
The most glaring trade candidate from this group is Romeo Doubs, the fourth-year receiver who is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
The 25-year-old has been a key part of the Green Bay offense since he was taken in the fourth round of the 2022 draft.
Doubs broke out as a potential star following a 59-catch, 674-yard, eight-touchdown sophomore campaign, and he followed that up in 2024 with a solid 46-catch, 601-yard, four-touchdown stat line that would have been more impressive had he not missed four games.
While the Nevada product has held an important but slightly limited role in the Packers' passing attack, he may not be too happy with the prospects of it being further diminished in 2025. It wouldn't be the first time he openly expressed unhappiness with his opportunities, either.
Per SI.com’s Bill Huber, the wideout was suspended for a game last October after he protested at his lack of targets by skipping a series of practices and meetings.
Although he's only earning a base salary of $3.4 million this season, obliging a potential trade request would help Green Bay's brass out in several ways.
Moving Doubs would not only free up a roster spot, but it would also help bring clarity to the team's pass-catching pecking order and potentially return even more draft capital than the Packers would receive via the NFL's compensatory pick formula for departing free agents.
RB Breece Hall, New York Jets

Breece Hall was one of the top draft picks in the New York Jets' loaded 2022 class. Despite his status as their No. 1 running back and strong contributions over the last three seasons, he has yet to earn a contract extension.
With 2022 classmates Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson re-upping with Gang Green on new deals this summer and Hall entering the final year of his rookie contract without a similar extension in place, his future with the team may be in jeopardy.
There have been rumblings that the 24-year-old may not even last the remainder of the campaign, with Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda noting the RB could be moved by the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, a pair of 2024 draft picks who flashed potential during limited action last year, could be candidates to take on a larger role if Hall departs.
Although Davis only saw limited action, he averaged a hefty 5.8 yards per carry and 8.3 yards per reception. Allen wasn't as efficient during his rookie year, but he had some impressive showings as Hall's primary backup, including scoring a pair of touchdowns in Week 2.
Head coach Aaron Glenn indicated early in the offseason he plans to use a three-back platoon in his initial season at the helm. That could mean a significant reduction in volume for Hall, who already regressed in each of the last two years following a breakout rookie campaign.
While there's still time for Hall to put a stranglehold on the backfield and become the Jets' feature back, it's also possible the 24-year-old sees a drastic drop in snap share on the heels of a career-high 72 percent in 2024.
A diminished workload, coupled with contractual unhappiness, could lead to Hall asking to be traded in the early weeks of the upcoming season.
WR Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins

Tyreek Hill is coming off a disappointing 2024 season, one that ended rather acrimoniously and could see his Miami Dolphins tenure end earlier than expected.
With the 31-year-old seemingly quitting on the team in Week 18 last season and telling reporters "I'm out, bro" following the first missed playoff appearance of his nine-year career, it appeared he might be exiting South Beach shortly after the 2024 season wrapped.
That didn't happen, though, as Hill publicly apologized to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and announced he wanted to remain a member of the Dolphins.
Despite these statements, there is a chance the eight-time Pro Bowler could still be traded.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, rival franchises are monitoring Hill's shaky status with the Dolphins and keying in on him as a potential trade target.
While Fowler did note Miami's brass was rejecting overtures for Hill earlier in the offseason, the playmaker has since gone on to miss all of training camp with an oblique injury, an ailment that has muddied his status and role with the team.
After tallying a whopping 464 targets over the last three seasons combined—only three receivers have garnered more looks in that span—he could quickly become dissatisfied with a lesser role in the Dolphins' offensive game plan.
If Hill returns from injury and continues to regress following an 81-catch, 959-yard, six-touchdown season (his worst since an injury-shortened 2019 campaign), it wouldn't be shocking to see him ask to be dealt.
QB Kenny Pickett, Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns may have found their franchise passer.
Although it's far too early to truly tell if Shedeur Sanders is going to be the team's long-term starting quarterback, his impressive preseason debut has him well-positioned to take the reins from projected QB1 Joe Flacco in the near future.
Sanders' rapid rise could lead to demotions for Cleveland's other hopeful young signal-callers, including veteran Kenny Pickett.
Should Sanders secure the No. 2 spot on the depth chart, Pickett will be left to battle rookie Dillon Gabriel for third-string duties.
Considering Pickett had expectations of competing for a starting role following the trade that landed him in Cleveland—and had a clear path to becoming the Browns' QB1 before Flacco was signed and the two rookies were drafted—it's reasonable to believe the fourth-year passer might seek another fresh start before the end of training camp.
While Pickett won a Super Bowl ring as Jalen Hurts' backup with the Philadelphia Eagles last year, he hasn't seen much meaningful action since making his final start for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13 of the 2023 campaign.
A hamstring injury hasn't helped the 27-year-old's chances of rejuvenating his career. He's already missed most of training camp with the ailment and could continue to be limited for much of August.
While working as a sideline reporter for the Browns' preseason opener, club legend Joe Thomas said it could be "a couple more weeks" before Pickett is able to return to full practices.
With head coach Kevin Stefanski recently revealing Gabriel has been cleared to return from his hamstring injury while Pickett remains limited to 7-on-7 drills, the 2022 first-round pick is starting to look like the odd man out in this four-way QB competition.
Pushing for a trade could be the Pittsburgh product's best option.
With injuries to the likes of Anthony Richardson and Matthew Stafford opening up opportunities around the league, teams desperate for a passer with starting experience might be willing to roll the dice on Pickett's upside.
