NBA 2K26 Reveals WNBA Players for MyTEAM Mode for 1st Time to Create Dream Matchups

For the first time in the series' history, gamers will be able to pit NBA stars past and present against their WNBA peers in NBA 2K26.

2K announced Thursday that WNBA players will be incorporated into the MyTEAM mode, allowing fans to build their squads with a mix of luminaries from the W and NBA.

You'll soon be able to match the Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark and two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry together in the same backcourt. Imagine a forward tandem of the Las Vegas Aces' A'ja Wilson and 21-time All-Star LeBron James. What about having LSU basketball legends Angel Reese and Shaquille O'Neal pack the paint?

The WNBA integration also includes making every team's jersey and court floor available to use in MyTEAM. The commentary team of Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony, and Stan Van Gundy recorded audio to account for WNBA and NBA stars playing alongside one another as well.

"MyTEAM is where competition meets a basketball fan's wildest imagination," said Erick Boenisch, the vice president of NBA Development at Visual Concepts. "By integrating the WNBA into one of our most popular modes, we're not only giving players the opportunity to customize their all-time dream rosters but shining a spotlight on some of the game's most iconic hoopers. We're looking forward to giving our players a new and deeper way to engage with the WNBA."

In terms of MyTEAM more broadly, NBA 2K26 will introduce consumable Game Changer Cards, boast a new MyTEAM Arena and add a Breakout: Gauntlet game mode among other changes.

Thursday's news comes months after the WNBA announced it extended its partnership with 2K. The press release teased that the long-running NBA 2K series would "expand the presence and impact of the WNBA."

Terri Carmichael Jackson, executive director of the Women's National Basketball Players Association praised the significance of the extension, both in real terms and for what it promised in the future.

"Our players continue to raise the bar, and this renewed partnership with 2K ensures their impact is felt not just on the court, but across culture, gaming and the global growth of the sport," she said. "This expansion will elevate the entire league and the women who power it. It's also a recognition of the players' business value and their role in driving the future of the game."

The WNBA made its video game debut with NBA Live 18 and was first wrapped into the 2K series with NBA 2K20. Over time, the league's footprint expanded to include the ability to guide a franchise in MyGM or embark on your own career in The W.

Given the mode's annual popularity, having WNBA players available in MyTEAM might be the biggest expansion yet.

The standard edition of NBA 2K26 will release worldwide on Sept. 5. Those who purchase the "Superstar Edition" will have early access starting Aug. 29.
