Lil Wayne Hypes 'Amazing' Travis Hunter Ahead of Jaguars Star's Rookie NFL Season

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter is under the spotlight entering his first year in the NFL, but he received a vote of confidence from a key member of his camp.

Hip-hop star Lil Wayne, who signed Hunter to his Young Money APAA sports agency, praised the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner during an appearance on SportsCenter on Wednesday morning.

"The kid is--I know you hear everybody say he's unique, he's this--the kid is amazing," Wayne said of Hunter. "I compare it to like meeting a four- or five-year-old and you automatically know, 'Oh, that's a genius.' ... That's that guy."

The No. 2 pick in the 2025 draft, Hunter is hoping to become the first player in NFL history to play full-time on both offense and defense. On their first official depth chart released this week, the Jaguars listed him as their starting wide receiver and second-string cornerback.

Jacksonville head coach Liam Coen went as far as saying he feels "it's possible" that Hunter could win both Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Before he tries to prove Wayne and his other supporters right during his rookie season, Hunter will give fans a first taste of what he can do when the Jaguars open the preseason on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
