B/R Wrestling Staff Predictions for WWE SummerSlam 2025 Match Card
SummerSlam is this weekend, and for the first time ever, the event will take place across both Saturday and Sunday.
WWE has already loaded up the event with 12 matches, several of which will feature Championships being defended.
Our team took a look at each match and offered predictions for the entire card. Here is the panel of contributors:
—Chris Mueller (CM) (@BR_Doctor)
—Graham Matthews (GM) (@WrestleRant)
—Donald Wood (DW) (@RingRustRadio)
—Erik Beaston (EB) (@ErikBeaston)
—Jeff J (JJ) (@JeffJSays)
—Kevin Berge (KB)
Erik Beaston
1 of 7Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill
Is this the right time to put the women's title on Jade? Why or why not?
A significant part of what sets Jade apart from others right now is her aura and a loss to Stratton hurts that. Keeping her winning, and paying off the Queen of the Ring tournament win with a title victory, is the right call.
That is, unless Bianca Belair returns and jumpstarts a storyline with her former tag team partner.
Solo Sikoa vs. Jacob Fatu
Given that this is a cage match designed to make interference tougher, how do you think this match will play out?
Well…interference ensues, Fatu fights everyone off, but not before Sikoa sleazily sneaks his way out the door or over the top of the cage to pick up the tainted victory. Is it lazy booking? Absolutely, but it feels like the most likely direction given Sikoa just won the title.
Graham Matthews
2 of 7Randy Orton and Jelly Roll vs. Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre
What has been your opinion of this feud and the buildup so far?
For as little as WWE's hardcore fans may care about this, the match is designed to be an attraction for the casual audience, and to the credit of everyone involved, they've made the most of the month they've had to build it up.
Jelly Roll has held his own both on the mic and in the ring and could end up exceeding expectations come SummerSlam. The quicker this is over with, however, the better.
Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky
How do you see this match ending? Who wins and who takes the loss? Why them?
With Naomi winning the Women's World title less than three weeks ago, it would be asinine to cut her reign short anytime soon and thus she should absolutely hold the gold for the foreseeable future.
Ripley should eat the pinfall loss at SummerSlam after already getting pinned by Naomi at Evolution, but it will most likely be Sky if WWE is keen on protecting Ripley until she eventually faces Naomi one on one.
Mr. Jeff J
3 of 7Gunther vs. CM Punk
In your personal opinion, what is the most ideal outcome to this match and why?
The most ideal would be a Punk victory and a Rollins cash-in. I think it would take the Punk-Rollins feud to a scorching hot level. To see Rollins deny Punk a World Title after vehemently opposing the Best In The World's reclamation to WWE would be poetic.
Just as poetic as Punk losing the WHC on a cash-in after playing a pivotal role in screwing McIntyre out of the same title at WrestleMania 40. We get an apoplectic Punk chasing the title and Rollins for the rest of the year, which could lead to some awesome matching involving Seth, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and any new members of Rollins' crew.
Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyria
What are the odds that Lynch loses the title and has a short reign? Why do you think that?
I think there's high odds for a quick Becky title run for a couple of reasons. For one, Lyra has shown that she has in-ring and character talent to lead a division. The crowd brought the Bird Calls from The PC to arenas worldwide.
And then we have the nature of Becky and Lyra's feud. Becky works well with Valkyria. They've invested a lot in their connection over the years from rivals to teammates which helped to elevate Lyra into a mainstream player.
Becky didn't hold the NXT title long before Lyra dethroned her, and I don't think she needs to hold the IC title for an extensive reign either. Lynch's involvement in the division is proof that the title matters, and given Valkyria's standing as a main foil to The Man, I don't think it would be too shocking to see a title change.
Donald Wood
4 of 7Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez vs. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss
Lay out what you think to be the best way for this match to go.
The Judgment Day’s recent run with Perez has been stellar, as Mysterio and Rodriguez have fallen deeper into her trap. The duo of Perez and Rodriguez does not need the titles, as a returning Liv Morgan and her feelings of betrayal will be a marquee storyline.
WWE Creative should capitalize on the momentum created by Flair and Bliss and swap the titles.
John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes
Hypothetically, let's say Cena retains the title. Who would be the best option to take it from him before he retires at the end of the year? Why them?
If Cena beats Rhodes at SummerSlam, he will almost certainly remain a heel until he loses his final match, turning face as he puts over a younger performer. The perfect option in that scenario is Bron Breakker.
The blue-chip prospect is ready for a run to the top of the card, and it doesn’t get any bigger than beating Cena for the world title. The win would add to Breakker’s aura and cement his spot as a cornerstone of WWE.
Kevin Berge
5 of 7Roman Reigns and Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed
What do you think is the most likely outcome here? Which member gets the win and who takes the pin on the other team?
Reigns and Jey are simply too popular to lose this match. The OTC remains a step above Breakker and Reed, who are on career runs right now in terms of relevance. Reigns will likely pin Reed in this match to protect Breakker for a follow-up singles match at a future premium live event.
Dom Mysterio vs. AJ Styles
Offer an argument for why Styles should win the IC title from Dom.
Styles has struggled to find his spot on the current WWE roster. He is on the tail end of his career but still carries the reputation of one of the best in-ring workers in the world.
Giving him the Intercontinental Championship could allow him a late-career renaissance working with many of the young, hungry rising talents he has inspired in the ring. It could serve as an effective cap-off to his career before his retirement angle.
Chris Mueller
6 of 7Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross
Who needs this win the most?
After Zayn scored the win in their first big encounter, it only makes sense for Kross to even the score and set up a third showdown in the future. Whether Zayn ends up embracing more of his dark side remains to be seen, but he is a great rival to help get Kross on the map and capitalize on his popularity.
Tag Title TLC Match
Who is the best option to win this match and why?
Six tag teams in one TLC match is going to create so much mayhem that the winner is almost irrelevant. The crowd is going to get quite the spectacle and that is the real attraction here.
That being said, if WWE wants the Wyatt Sicks to be a success, then the group should hold onto the belts here. Playing hot potato with the belts is fine sometimes, but SmackDown hasn't had a set of dominant champions in a while. The Wyatts can be that for the brand.
