Insider Feels '0 Urgency' from Browns to Treat Shedeur Sanders More Than Developmental
The Cleveland Browns aren't treating rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders much differently from your typical fifth-round draft pick, according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson.
Jackson handicapped the Browns' ongoing QB battle and projected Joe Flacco to have a 75 percent chance of winning the job. Kenny Pickett was next at 20 percent, with the remaining five percent attributed to "any other outcome."
"It's impossible to know much of anything at this point, so I certainly wouldn't try to predict anything beyond that," the Browns insider wrote. "I feel zero urgency from the folks in charge to treat Sanders as anything but a talented, developmental-type prospect, and I truly believe the team is open to multiple scenarios — internally and externally — depending on how things go in August."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Sanders generated some excitement during the Browns' rookie minicamp in May and continued that through the team's full minicamp the following month. With training camp in full swing, the reality of the situation might be settling in.
Jackson wrote how the former Colorado star is "still not receiving any reps with the No. 1 offense or against the No. 1 defense," though he is getting plenty of work in general.
In a quarterback room without a standout candidate, nothing is off the table.
The Browns get the preseason underway Aug. 8 against the Carolina Panthers. Especially as it relates to Sanders, that might be the first real opportunity to see how far his development has advanced and get a read on his role for Week 1.
