Shedeur Sanders Called Best Player at Browns Rookie Camp by Insider, per LeSean McCoy

Shedeur Sanders has reportedly made a strong first impression with his performance at the Cleveland Browns' rookie minicamp.

Fox Sports analyst and former NFL running back LeSean McCoy cited "sources" that told him Sanders "looks like the best player out of the whole camp" during a Monday appearance on The Facility (0:20 mark).

The Browns traded up to select the former Colorado quarterback in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft, adding him with the No. 144 overall pick.

Sanders was viewed by many as a potential first-round selection heading into the draft, as he was projected to be off the board with the No. 20 overall pick in the final mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.

Instead, he was still waiting to hear his name called at the start of Day 3 before Cleveland moved up.

Sanders wrapped up a 2024 campaign with the Buffaloes in which he finished No. 8 in Heisman Trophy voting. He completed 74 percent of his throws for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions, helping Colorado finish with a 9-4 record.

The 23-year-old wasn't the only quarterback participating in the Browns' rookie minicamp, as they used a third-round pick to select Oregon's Dillon Gabriel in the 2025 draft.

It's a promising sign that Sanders has reportedly performed well in Cleveland's minicamp, as he was the seventh player that the team drafted.

He'll have an opportunity to earn a Week 1 starting job as a rookie, a rare occurrence for a Day 3 pick. Sanders will compete with Gabriel, Kenny Pickett and veteran Joe Flacco for a spot atop the Browns' depth chart.
