
Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman Exits vs. Dodgers With Back Injury, Expected to Avoid IL
Boston Red Sox reliever Aroldis Chapman left the team's 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday with back tightness, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora revealed that the lefty is considered "day-to-day" and doesn't believe that he'll end up on the injured list, per MassLive.com's Christopher Smith.
Chapman faced three batters before his exit, recording one out and two walks while seven of his 11 pitches thrown were balls.

The 37-year-old has a reputation as a flamethrower, but wasn't living up to it before his departure.
Chapman entered Sunday's action without having thrown a fastball slower than 94.7 miles per hour this season. He threw fastballs at 93.3 and 94.3 miles per hour before leaving the game (h/t ESPN's Mike Monaco).
Chapman is in the midst of a resurgent year with Boston, earning the eighth All-Star nod of his career after recording a 3.72 ERA during his 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He owns a 1.30 ERA as a member of the Red Sox, racking up 61 strikeouts to go along with 13 walks across 41.2 innings of work. Chapman has also registered 18 saves, the eighth-most in the American League.
The veteran has been playing at a particularly high level as of late, owning an impressive 0.87 ERA over his past 10 games heading into Sunday's matchup with Los Angeles.
The Red Sox will be hoping that Chapman can make a quick recovery, as they're currently battling for positioning in the AL postseason picture. Boston sits 0.5 games above the Texas Rangers for the league's final wild card spot with a 57-50 record.
