Eugenio Suarez Reportedly 'Almost Certain' to Be Traded amid Mets, Phillies Rumors
Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez is "almost certain" to be dealt before Thursday's trade deadline, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
There's a big question, then, of where Suárez can land. The New York Mets don't appear to be an option, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

However, Heyman noted that the Philadelphia Phillies could also be a fit, while noting some other potential teams.
Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer also wrote that the Phillies "have talked to the Diamondbacks about Eugenio Suarez."
It's not hard to see why Suárez is so coveted before the trade deadline. Entering Saturday, the third baseman was leading the major leagues with 87 RBI, in part because of his 36 home runs. He made his second All-Star team over a 12-year career and has posted an impressive .908 OPS as well. Suárez is also an impending free agent, so his contract certainly isn't prohibitive toward a deal.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks appear to be turning the page to 2026. They've already traded first baseman Josh Naylor, who had arrived in town last offseason in a trade with the Cleveland Guardians.
Losing three straight at home to the Houston Astros earlier this week certainly put a damper on the team's outlook, and Arizona is now just 51-53 and facing a tough uphill climb to make the playoffs. Baseball-Reference ballparks their playoff chances at just 10.7 percent.
The Phillies make sense, with third baseman Alec Bohm on the injured list with a fractured left rib. Philadelphia is also in a fierce fight for the NL East with the New York Mets, and the team has won four of five, including two road wins over the New York Yankees by a combined score of 21-9.
So it makes sense to strike while the iron is hot and add to an already talented team that could very well contend for a World Series, especially when the majors doesn't appear to have a dominant team right now.
Philadelphia appears to have competition, though, based on Heyman's tweet, but we'll find out soon enough where Suárez heads with the deadline less than a week away.
