Luis Robert Jr. Trade Would Enhance Mets' World Series Title Hopes Amid MLB Rumors
The New York Mets have won five in a row after taking the first game of their series with the San Francisco Giants. They are also in a tight race at the top of the NL East division with their rivals, the Philadelphia Phillies, but the team is still looking for upgrades at key positions.
That includes center field, and according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman, the team has checked in with the Chicago White Sox on Luis Robert Jr.

A trade for Robert would instantly enhance the Mets' World Series title hopes, despite a stat line that is anything but impressive this season.
Robert is hitting just .206/.293/.343, with 10 home runs and 41 RBI.
What has flown under the radar is that the 2023 All-Star is ranked eighth in stolen bases with 26, nine more than Mets team leader Francisco Lindor. That is an asset that would allow New York to collect bases and put players in scoring position so more prolific hitters like Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Juan Soto can work their magic and score multiple runs.
That lineup, with that many talented bats, would also create more opportunities for Robert, something he is not routinely seeing as one of the lone stars in a lacking White Sox lineup.
His .996 fielding percentage leads the American League and would immediately make him the best glove in the Mets outfield. He also leads the AL in range factor per nine innings, measuring putouts and assists, at 3.06.
Robert is a strong defender with a great glove and can benefit the Mets from day one.
Given the high-powered offenses in the NL East, including the Phillies and a resurgent Miami Marlins squad led by Kyle Stowers, upgrading the defensive side of the ball and hoping Robert can rediscover the hitting that helped him earn MVP votes just two seasons ago, is the type of championship-winning move that the front office can, and should, make ahead of the July 31 deadline.
