Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
As for Cruz, he's in the midst of his fifth year suiting up for the Pirates. While his .219 batting average is a career-low mark, his 16 home runs are the most in Pittsburgh.
Cruz has also recorded 14 doubles, 40 RBIs and 48 walks. His 33 stolen bases are tied for the most in the majors.
The 26-year-old has looked sharper at the plate as of late, hitting .255 in the month of July.
Cruz is currently earning $785,000 in his final year of pre-arbitration and has three more seasons of team control on his contract before he's scheduled to hit free agency in 2029, making him an enticing option for opposing front offices.
As the Pirates sit at the bottom of the National League Central standings with a 42-61 record, they could choose to sell ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.
While Pittsburgh isn't actively shopping Cruz, the team is reportedly open to fielding offers for him.
