49ers Trading Jauan Jennings Reportedly Is 'Unlikely' amid Aiyuk's Injury, NFL Rumors

Zach BacharJul 21, 2025

The San Francisco 49ers trading wide receiver Jauan Jennings is considered "unlikely," according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

On July 14, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Jennings "wants a new contract or a trade."

San Francisco's wide receiver depth is already being tested heading into training camp, with Brandon Aiyuk's availability for the start of the 2025 season uncertain as he continues to recover from a torn ACL and MCL that he suffered in Oct. 2024.

The 49ers also traded Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders in March.

2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall is expected to step into a larger role during the upcoming season, but he entered training camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list due to a hamstring injury that he sustained earlier in the offseason.

As for Jennings, he's set to enter the final season of a two-year contract worth up to $15.4 million that he signed with the 49ers in 2024. He'll receive $7.5 million in 2025 as part of his current deal.

Jennings hauled in a career-high 77 receptions for 975 yards last season, finding the end zone six times. He's projected to remain a starter alongside Aiyuk and Pearsall in 2025.

While Jennings reportedly wants to be traded if he doesn't receive a new contract, the 49ers don't seem to be willing to part ways with him.
