Browns' Jerry Jeudy Says Steve Smith Sr. Beef is 'Old News,' Isn't 'Stressed' About It

Zach BacharJul 20, 2025

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy discussed his feud with former star wideout and current NFL Network analyst Steve Smith Sr. during the 2023 season.

"It is what it is, man," Jeudy said during a Sunday appearance on Nightcap (6:30 mark). "I ain't really too stressed about that. It's old news. He said some things in the past, I said some things in the past. I know who I am at the end of the day and I proved it last year."

In 2023, Smith referred to Jeudy as "JAG," or just a guy, during his Cut to It podcast and later called him a "tier three wide receiver" after a brief conversation with him during a Thursday Night Football broadcast in Week 6 of the regular season.

Jeudy later told reporters that he didn't appreciate the public comments.

Smith eventually apologized for his criticism of the former Denver Broncos receiver in an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.

While Jeudy struggled to find consistency during his 2023 campaign, he wrapped up a breakout 2024 season with the Browns in which he earned Pro Bowl honors for the first time in his career.

The 26-year-old hauled in 90 receptions for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns in 17 appearances, averaging a career-high 5.3 catches per game.

As Jeudy prepares for his second year in Cleveland, he doesn't seem to be concerned about his beef with Smith anymore.
