Yankees Reportedly Discussed D-Backs' Eugenio Suarez Trade Amid MLB Deadline Rumors
The New York Yankees have reportedly inquired about trading for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez, but the D-Backs remain uncertain about moving him, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
The Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners also “make sense” as potential trade partners for the two-time All-Star, according to Heyman.
The 12-year MLB veteran is slashing .251/.322/.567 in his second season with Arizona in addition to notching 31 home runs and leading the National League with 78 RBI with .889 OPS.

While Suarez has struggled defensively with 11 errors, he’s also recorded 148 assists, turned 13 double plays at third base, and taken two turns as the designated hitter this season.
The 34-year-old began his professional career in Detroit with the Tigers, spending two seasons playing both third base and shortstop. He’s expressed interest in a potential return.
"To finish where everything started, it would be cool," Suárez said Monday ahead of the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, per the Detroit Free Press' Evan Petzold. "It would mean a lot to me."
"Since I was there, it's been a lot different," Suárez said, per Petzold. "It's a new team with a lot of young guys and a lot of talent. I think they have a really good chance to make it more than the playoffs this year."
Wherever Suárez ends up before the trade deadline could be a short-term stop, as the veteran is set to hit unrestricted free agency next season.
His fate will be decided by the MLB trade deadline, set for July 31 at 6 p.m. ET.
