Cameron Boozer Says Duke CBB 'Very Overlooked' Ahead of Season, 5-Star Has 'Huge Chip'

Timothy RappJul 16, 2025

The Duke Blue Devils are regularly one of the most discussed college basketball programs in the sport, have widely been projected to be a top-25 team next season and brought in the top-ranked recruiting class ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

But Cameron Boozer believes the Blue Devils are being "very overlooked" heading into the season.

"I think we have a special group," he told ESPN's Myron Medcalf. "I think we're very overlooked right now, but once the season starts, that'll change for sure... I think just playing together, playing hard, defending, competing, we're going to be in a spot to get [to the Final Four] just like they did last year."

The Blue Devils lost five players from last season's NCAA tournament runner-up—including top overall pick Cooper Flagg—and have largely replaced them with incoming freshman, so there are some questions about how well those players will coalesce, and whether they can replicate last year's success. The Blue Devils are taking those questions as a mark of disrespect and using them as motivation, according to Boozer.

"We have a huge chip because we know that we have the talent and the team to be the best team in the country, and I generally feel like we will be the best team in the country," he said. "So that puts a huge chip on us that people are overlooking us saying that we're not the team we were last year and everything like that. I feel like everyone will see that once the season comes, but we're not too worried about stuff like that."
