Fantasy Football 2025 Early Mock Draft Heading into Training Camp

Zach BuckleyJul 14, 2025

Selection time is fast approaching in the fantasy football world.

Yes, we are saying this in the middle of July, but guess what—there will be NFL preseason action before this month is up.

With training camps getting going, we're on (or at least approaching) the final stretch toward the 2025 campaign's kickoff. This is peak research time, so let's start this study session by laying out the first five rounds of a 10-team, half-PPR mock draft and a quick look at a couple of camp battles worth watching.

Colts QB1

2 of 3
Indianapolis Colts OTAs

Plagued both by injuries and inconsistent performances, Anthony Richardson Sr. has only started 15 games since the Colts made him the No. 4 pick of the 2023 draft. On a related note, Indianapolis shelled out $14 million to bring in Daniel Jones on a one-year deal this offseason.

This is a clear quarterback competition, and one which could have serious implications on the fantasy football season.

Richardson's passing is all over the place. He's a career 50.6 percent passer with more interceptions (13) than touchdown throws (11). And yet, he's always a threat to post a huge fantasy line based on his rushing ability. He's had 111 carries to date, which yielded 635 yards and touchdowns. If he wins this job, he'll be worth an upside flier from any manager who's less than in love with their quarterback situation.

Should Jones get the nod, though, that's probably good news for all pass-catchers in this offense. Now, he isn't some rocket-armed, machine-like precise passer, but he's easily an upgrade over Richardson in terms of accuracy (career 64.1 percent) and decision-making (70 touchdowns against 47 interceptions).

Chargers RB1

3 of 3
Los Angeles Chargers Rookie Minicamp

The Chargers, who'd prefer to play a run-first offense, overhauled their rushing attack this offseason. They moved on from both J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, the only players other than quarterback Justin Herbert with 50-plus carries last season. Then, they brought in Najee Harris in free agency and invested the No. 22 pick in Omarion Hampton.

Was the aim to set up a two-headed monster in the backfield? Or will one be a workhorse and the other provide depth behind him?

Long-term, the Chargers clearly have high hopes for Hampton, but Harris is a more than capable stop-gap solution if they want to take that route. Harris would be productive in this role, too, even if he's not the most explosive back around. To this point, he's been durable and reliable, playing 17 games and reaching 1,000 rushing yards each of the past four seasons.

Hampton has more juice, though, and he might have a better chance to see the field earlier in the season with Harris' status seemingly up in the air following an eye injury during a 4th of July event. Going in, this felt like it'd be close to a timeshare with Harris seeing slightly more action, especially early in the season. Now, it feels like Hampton has a non-zero chance of taking this job and (literally) running away with it.
