After two scoreless innings from both teams to open Saturday's matchup, the American League got on the board first with a run-scoring groundout from Chicago White Sox outfield prospect Braden Montgomery in the third inning and a sacrifice fly in the fourth by Texas Rangers shortstop prospect Sebastian Walcott.
After De Paula's three-run blast gave the National League the lead, Chicago Cubs No. 1 prospect Owen Caissie provided his team with some run support by recording an impressive RBI double.
The National League used nine pitchers in the game, racking up eight combined strikeouts and holding the American League lineup to just three hits across seven innings.
Right-hander Jonah Tong, the New York Mets' No. 2 prospect, was one of seven NL pitchers who didn't allow an earned run. He recorded one strikeout in a scoreless second inning.
While there were encouraging performances from prospects on both teams, De Paula's home run proved to be too much for the American League to overcome.
