Yankees' Carlos Rodon Added to AL Roster for MLB All-Star Game, Replaces Max Fried
The New York Yankees are swapping one pitcher for another at the 2025 All-Star Game, with Carlos Rodón taking the place of Max Fried on the American League squad.
MLB announced on Friday that Rodón has been added to the All-Star team.

Report: Correa Has 'Serious' Ankle Injury
There's no indication of an injury for Fried. Rather, New York's rotation lines up in a way that would prevent him from pitching on Tuesday.
Fried is currently scheduled to start for the Yankees on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. He would only have two days of rest before the All-Star Game.
Rodón, on the other hand, is set to start Friday's series opener against the Cubs. He won't be on full rest for Tuesday, but the four days off do make it easier to use him for a one-inning stint.
Since Yankees manager Aaron Boone will be the skipper for the AL team, the decision for how to use Rodón will be up to him.
Fried becomes the sixth player named to the initial All-Star team who has withdrawn from the game. He joins a group that includes Alex Bregman (Boston Red Sox), José Ramírez (Cleveland Guardians), Chris Sale (Atlanta Braves), Robbie Ray (San Francisco Giants) and Yoshinobu Yamamoto (Los Angeles Dodgers).
If Tarik Skubal didn't exist, Fried would have a great case to start for the AL team. The left-hander, who signed an eight-year, $218 million contract with the Yankees in December, has a 2.27 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 119.0 innings this season.
The starting pitchers for the Midsummer Classic will likely be announced on Monday.
Rodón would have been a worthy inclusion on the initial All-Star roster, but the crowded pitching field made it hard to put two Yankees on the team. He has a 3.30 ERA with 127 strikeouts in 111.2 innings, ranking fifth in the AL with 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings.
This will mark Rodón's third career All-Star appearance. He previously played in the game in 2021 representing the Chicago White Sox and in 2022 representing the Giants.
