Peterson joins a Mets-heavy NL All-Star roster that includes shortstop Francisco Lindor, first baseman Pete Alonso and closer Edwin Díaz.
Now in his sixth season — all with the Mets — Peterson has recorded 87 strikeouts over 102 innings pitched, allowing just seven home runs. New York currently sits at 53-40, second in the NL East.
He replaces Ray, a former 2021 Cy Young winner and one-time All-Star, who holds a 9-3 record and 2.63 ERA over 19 starts. Ray is scheduled to start Sunday for the Dodgers against San Francisco, making him unavailable for the All-Star Game.
The Giants will still be well-represented on the mound, with ace Logan Webb and reliever Randy Rodríguez set to attend the 2025 MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta on July 15.
