Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
This comes on the same day that San Diego acquired closer Mason Miller and left-handed pitcher J.P. Sears from the Athletics.
Baltimore was fantastic in the 2023 season, going 101-61, and followed that up with a 91-71 campaign last year. The team failed to win a playoff series in either of those seasons, however, and has been shockingly mediocre this year despite a promising and talented young core of players.
O'Hearn, 31, was named to the American League All-Star team this season, hitting .283 with 13 homers, 43 RBI, 45 runs and a .837 OPS. He's been one of the few bright spots for an Orioles team that is just 50-59 on the season and currently fifth in the AL East.
While much of the roster has underachieved, O'Hearn could potentially pass previous career highs in homers (15), RBI (60) and runs (60) this year, and also likely will finish with his highest OPS since his rookie season.
Laureano, meanwhile, is hitting .290 with 15 home runs and 46 RBI, adding an .884 OPS this season.
With O'Hearn and Laureano not part of Baltimore's core, the team decided to move both players and get something in return as they build for the future. San Diego, meanwhile, will be hoping O'Hearn and Laureano can bolster their offense and, in the process, their postseason aspirations.
