Dodgers Reportedly Call Up Alexis Diaz After Trading for Former Reds All-Star in May
Amid their four-game losing streak, the Los Angeles Dodgers are hoping to bolster their pitching depth.
According to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya, the Dodgers are calling up former All-Star reliever Alexis Díaz, whom they acquired from the Cincinnati Reds in May.
Díaz made six appearances for the Reds this season and allowed eight earned runs. Upon his acquisition, the Dodgers sent him to their spring training facility in Glendale, Arizona, to work on his mechanics.

The younger brother of New York Mets closer Edwin Díaz, the 28-year-old was selected to the All-Star Game during the 2023 season. He spent that year as Cincinnati's closer and finished that season with a 9-6 record, a 3.07 ERA, 86 strikeouts and 37 saves in 71 appearances.
Unfortunately, Díaz's numbers tailed off during the 2024 campaign. He appeared in 60 games and went 2-5 with a 3.99 ERA, 55 strikeouts and 28 saves. He suffered a hamstring injury prior to the 2025 season and started the year on the injured list.
The Dodgers are hoping that a healthy Díaz can help shore up their pitching woes. During this current skid, Los Angeles has given up 38 runs while scoring just seven.
At 56-36, the Dodgers still hold a six-game lead in the NL West. The defending World Series champs will be hoping to get back on track when they face the Milwaukee Brewers (51-40) on Tuesday night.
