Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw Reacts to 'Weird' MLB All-Star Nod, 'It's a Tremendous Honor'
Clayton Kershaw made his 11th All-Star Game this season, but this year's nod was earned differently than his others.
Kershaw earned his All-Star appearance because of his illustrious career as a whole, rather than for his play this season. He was MLB commissioner Rob Manfred's "Legend Pick."
The Los Angeles Dodgers star pitcher admitted that it's a bit strange, but he's still grateful.

"I didn't really actually know that was a thing," Kershaw said, per the Associated Press. "At the end of the day, it's weird, but it's cool, so I'm just going to enjoy it."
"I'll never pass up that opportunity," Kershaw added. "It's a tremendous honor. Super thankful to get to go. Regardless of the situation or how I maybe snuck into the All-Star Game, it's pretty cool to get to be able to go."
Kershaw has just nine starts this season, recording a 4-0 record behind a 3.43 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. While his numbers aren't bad, his few appearances likely wouldn't have been enough to make the All-Star Game.
Kershaw will be the first player to receive Manfred's "Legend Pick" since Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera received the honor in 2022.
