Jrue Holiday's Medicals Reportedly Led Celtics, Blazers to Tweak Anfernee Simons Trade
The trade between the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers involving guards Jrue Holiday and Anfernee Simons reportedly has been adjusted.
According to Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian, a review of Holiday's medicals led the Blazers to remove the two second-round picks that were being sent to the Celtics and reduce the deal to a straight player swap.
Fentress noted that a source said Holiday's medicals "revealed nothing substantial enough to warrant the trade being negated. However, there was enough there to lead the Blazers to alter the terms of the deal slightly." The source added that the 35-year-old "is considered to be healthy and will be working out this summer in preparation for the start of training camp near the end of September."

Every Team's Biggest Regret This Season 😞
Holiday is coming off a disappointing 2024-25 season in which he missed 20 games due to various injuries. His average of 11.1 points per game was his lowest scoring output since his rookie year in 2009-10. He also shot 44.3 percent from the field, his first time shooting below 45 percent since 2015-16.
Still, the Blazers opted to swap Simons' youth for Holiday's experience. The two-time NBA champion will be the unquestioned leader of a young locker room that is trying to work its way out of a rebuild and contend for a playoff spot next season.
Holiday will be motivated to bounce back from his lackluster 2024-25 campaign, so Portland is hoping he will be able to stay healthy and prove the right decision was made in trading Simons for him.
