Reigns Still Earmarked for SummerSlam

WrestleVotes reported on June 26 that Roman Reigns "has popped up internally in recent weeks" and that he appeared to be in line to compete on the SummerSlam card.

Ringside News' Steve Carrier followed up Friday to write that "WWE is moving forward with plans to reintroduce Reigns in time for the biggest party of the summer."

This is roughly the same blueprint the creative team used for Reigns in the aftermath of his defeat to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XL. He took a few months off and showed up at SummerSlam to help Rhodes beat Solo Sikoa.

Especially with SummerSlam now a two-night affair, WWE presumably intends to telegraph Reigns' involvement well in advance this year.

One of Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker or Bronson Reed is the most logical opponent after they laid him out on the Raw after WrestleMania 41. Pitting The Original Tribal Chief against any of the three would be enough to headline the first night of SummerSlam or at least serve as a featured bout below the main event.

Depending how the scenario plays out, the storyline could extend into Survivor Series or even the Royal Rumble with Reigns having to wait before he completes his full revenge on Paul Heyman.

Nikki Bella Remains in Evolution 2 Plans Despite Liv Morgan Injury

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Cageside Seats) reported Nikki Bella continues to be in WWE's plans for the Evolution 2 show after the creative team was forced to drop its original idea for the former world champion.

Liv Morgan attacked Bella on the June 9 edition of Raw, which laid the groundwork for a confrontation of some kind between the pair at Evolution.

However, Morgan suffered a shoulder injury a week later, so she'll be unavailable for Sunday's premium live event.

There obviously isn't much time to generate hype around a new match for Bella, but it could be fairly easy to insert her into one that has already been confirmed.

WWE is staging a Battle Royal at Evolution 2, with the winner earning a world title shot at Clash in Paris in August. That will likely feature a mixture of current and former members of the women's division, so Bella wouldn't be out of place as an entrant.

Two of the teams challenging tag champs Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez are still to be announced as well. Perhaps a Bella Twins reunion can happen after all.

The IInspiration a Potential Addition to Evolution 2

Speaking of former WWE tag teams, WrestleVotes Radio (via Ringside Seats' Subhojeet Mukherjee) reported The IIconics have been discussed for Evolution 2.

Now competing as The IInspiration, Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay returned to TNA at Against All Odds in June. They picked up a win over Tessa Blanchard and Victoria Crawford last week.

Lee and McKay haven't wrestled on a WWE show since 2021, yet they remain cult favorites for a section of the WWE Universe.

Being signed to another company won't be an impediment for The IInspiration if they're aiming to be at Evolution. The January agreement between TNA and WWE has seen the two share talent on a limited basis.

At a time when Trick Williams is the TNA world champion, why can't Lee and McKay capture the WWE women's tag titles for a second time?
