Dodgers' Max Muncy Placed on IL, Out 6 Weeks with Knee Injury Diagnosed as Bone Bruise
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy has been placed on the injured list, although fans can breathe a sigh of relief with the initial diagnosis.
The team announced Muncy is suffering a bone bruise in his left knee. Esteury Ruiz replaced the veteran on the active roster.
Muncy told reporters Thursday that he expects to miss six weeks with the injury:

It initially looked much worse when Muncy exited Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox in the top of the sixth inning after suffering a knee injury.
He was replaced by Enrique Hernandez at third base.
Muncy went hitless in two at-bats before leaving the game, maintaining a .250 batting average on the season.
"Based on the judgment of our crew, we are not going to show you the replay of Max Muncy's injury at third base. You can just hope and pray that it's not as bad as it looked," the broadcast announced.
White Sox outfielder Michael Taylor attempted to steal third base, where Muncy successfully applied the tag—but not without consequence. As Taylor slid in, he collided hard with the side of Muncy's left knee, sending the Dodgers third baseman airborne before he crashed to the ground.
Muncy immediately grabbed his knee in visible pain and was tended to by team staff. He was helped off the field and was unable to put much weight on his left leg.
The 34-year-old has tallied 13 home runs, 55 RBI and holds a .838 OPS so far this season as the Dodgers hope this could be a limited stay on the IL.
