MLB All-Star Voting 2025, Rosters, Starters, Snubs and Predictions for Reserves
The starting lineups for the MLB All-Star game are here.
The players who received the most fan votes were announced on Wednesday, and the reserves will be revealed on July 6. Here's a look at the starters for each league, along with a few notable snubs.
AL Starters
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge led fan voting after Phase 1, earning him an automatic starting spot. It's no surprise to see Judge once again get such a good voting turnout as the reigning MVP has put together a spectacular season thus far.
He leads the majors in batting average (.358), has the second-most home runs (30) and the fourth-most RBI (67). Behind his outstanding play, he has the Yankees looking like World Series contenders.
Another no-brainer to be an All-Star is Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh. In just 84 games, Raleigh has the most home runs in the majors with 33 and the most RBI with 71. It'll be the first All-Star appearance for the "Big Dumper" as he looks to continue his career season.
NL Starters
Like Judge, Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani was the top vote-getter after Phase 1, giving him an automatic starting spot. Also like Judge, it comes as no shock that he received the most votes, considering his fantastic season so far. He's tied with Judge for the second-most home runs (30) and has recently added another element to his game, getting back on the mound for the first time since 2023.
Ohtani will have a pair of his Dodgers teammates on the field with him as catcher Will Smith earned his third consecutive All-Star nod and Freddie Freeman received his ninth All-Star bid.
Snubs
All of the players selected to be All-Stars have done something to deserve it, so it's hard to say whether there are any true snubs, but, like every year, some players left off the list of starters had pretty strong cases.
Washington Nationals left fielder James Wood is having a breakout second season in the majors. He's logged 22 homers and 65 RBI, which rank seventh and sixth in the majors respectively.
Wood has been so prolific at the plate this year that the Los Angeles Angels intentionally walked him four times in one game last month, something that hasn't happened since Barry Bonds was walked four times in 2004.
But Wood's absence from the starters list might have more to do with his popularity than his play this season, since he's only in Year 2. The 22-year-old is sure to become an All-Star starter one day.
Along with Wood, Corbin Carroll, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Heliot Ramos made strong cases to be starters, but the National League boasts some of the best outfielders in baseball, and there just wasn't enough room for all of them.
In the American League, Bobby Witt Jr. being left out of the starting lineup was a bit surprising. He has more home runs and RBI than Jacob Wilson, who got the starting nod, though Wilson has the better batting average.
Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña could also be considered a snub, considering he has the fourth-best batting average and third-best WAR in the majors.
