WNBA Players Vote Caitlin Clark 9th Among Guards in 2025 All-Star Game Balloting

Scott PolacekJun 30, 2025

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is one of the faces of the WNBA and a fan favorite, but her peers are a bit more hesitant to deem her an All-Star in 2025.

While Clark and Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx were named captains of the upcoming All-Star Game on Sunday because they were the top two vote-getters from fans, the WNBA released additional voting results Monday when it announced the other eight starters.

Clark checked in at No. 1 in fan voting and No. 3 in media voting among all backcourt players, but she was just ninth in player votes.

Fans made up 50 percent of the vote to determine the starters, while the media and players each made up 25 percent. The full weight of the votes was then calculated to determine the starters.

Clark and Collier will be joined by Nneka Ogwumike of the Seattle Storm, Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty, A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, Paige Bueckers of the Dallas Wings, Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream, Sabrina Ionescu of the Liberty, Aliyah Boston of the Fever and Satou Sabally of the Phoenix Mercury.

The 12 reserves will be voted on by the league's coaches and announced on July 6, while Clark and Collier will draft their respective rosters as the two captains on July 8. The game will then take place at the home of the Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on July 19.

Clark was left looking up at a number of players in the backcourt voting by her peers, including Gray, who checked in at No. 1. There was quite the discrepancy for the Dream star as well. Gray was first in votes among players and first in the media balloting, but just seventh among fans.

Ionescu was second in the player vote, Skylar Diggins of the Storm was third and Natasha Cloud of the Liberty was fourth.

It should be noted that Clark hasn't been as dominant in her second season in the league after she took home the Rookie of the Year and broke the WNBA single-season assists record in her first. Part of that is due to injury, as she has been limited to just nine games.

While she is still averaging 18.2 points and 8.9 assists a night, she is shooting just 39 percent from the field and 29.5 percent from deep. She is also averaging 5.9 turnovers per game.

Indiana has struggled with consistency as its star guard has been in and out of the lineup and is just 8-8 despite entering the campaign with realistic championship aspirations. There is still plenty of time to turn things around, especially if Clark gets healthier in the season's second half, but things haven't exactly gone according to plan.

Perhaps Clark's peers noticed that when they didn't vote her as highly as the fans and media did.
