New York, along with the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings, is "said to be" among the possible destinations for Westbrook, according to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.

The Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Pelicans are also "in the market for veteran guards," per Stein and Fischer.
New York wrapped up an impressive 2024-25 campaign, earning the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 51-31 record while finishing with the league's fifth-best offensive rating (via NBA.com).
The Knicks also advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000, but depth was an issue for them throughout the year.
New York's bench averaged just 21.7 points per game during its 2024-25 campaign, the lowest mark in the NBA. The Knicks' reserves also recorded a mere 15.8 points per game during their postseason run, the second-lowest average among the 16 teams to make the playoffs.
Westbrook could provide a spark off the bench for New York. In 75 appearances with the Nuggets last season, he averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from three-point territory.
It's worth noting that the former MVP struggled in the playoffs for Denver, averaging 9.9 points per game on 34.8/21.9/69.6 shooting splits during the team's seven-game defeat at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round.
Still, Westbrook could thrive in a smaller role as a backup to Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson as the veteran prepares for his 18th season in the NBA.
