Padres' Robert Suarez Reportedly Has Suspension Reduced for Shohei Ohtani Hit By Pitch
San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez has reportedly had his three-game suspension for hitting Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani with a pitch last week reduced to two games.
According to Dennis Lin of The Athletic, Suarez dropped his appeal as a result of the lessened punishment.
Last Thursday, with the Padres leading the Dodgers 5-2 in the ninth inning, Suarez plunked Ohtani in the back with a pitch, leading to his immediate ejection:

In the top half of the inning, Dodgers reliever Jack Little hit Padres star outfielder Fernando Tatís Jr. with a pitch, marking the third time in a nine-day span that an L.A. pitcher plunked Tatís.
The benches cleared as a result, and both Padres manager Mike Shildt and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts were ejected for bumping into each other during an argument. They each received a one-game suspension as well.
Shildt and Roberts later disagreed on Suarez's intent, with Roberts calling the Ohtani hit-by-pitch intentional and Shildt calling it unintentional.
San Diego went on to win that game 5-3, and Suarez remained eligible to pitch in the days that followed due to his decision to appeal.
The 34-year-old was named an All-Star for the first time last season when he went 9-3 with a career-high 36 saves and a 2.77 ERA. So far this season, he is 2-3 with a 3.51 ERA and an MLB-leading 22 saves.
Lin noted Suarez may begin serving his two-game suspension Wednesday against the Washington Nationals. If he does, he will also have to miss Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds since the Padres are off on Thursday.
